How to Fix a Pod Leaking From the BottomUpdated 2 hours ago

A leaking pod is one of the most common issues vapers experience, and in most cases it can be fixed quickly at home. Work through the steps below to identify and resolve the cause.

  1. Remove and inspect the pod

Take the pod out of the device and inspect the base for any visible cracks, damage, or e-liquid residue. A cracked pod cannot be repaired and will need to be replaced. If the pod looks intact, continue to the next step.

  2. Check and reseat the coil

If your pod has a replaceable coil, remove it and check that the rubber seal at the base is intact and has not shifted out of position. Reinsert the coil firmly until it clicks or sits flush. A loose or incorrectly seated coil is one of the most common causes of leaking from the bottom.

  3. Clean the pod and device contacts

Use a dry tissue or cotton bud to remove any e-liquid from the base of the pod and the contacts inside the device. Built-up liquid in this area can work its way out and appear as a leak even when the pod itself is fine. Allow everything to dry fully before reinserting the pod.

  4. Check your filling technique

If your pod is refillable, make sure you are filling slowly and directing the nozzle toward the inner wall of the fill port rather than straight down the centre airflow tube. Filling too quickly or overfilling are both common causes of leaking. Leave a small air gap at the top of the pod when filling.

  5. Allow the coil to prime

After refilling or fitting a new coil, leave the pod to stand upright for at least five minutes before vaping. This allows the e-liquid to fully saturate the coil. Vaping before the coil is ready can flood it and cause liquid to leak from the base.

Important: With a brand new coil, consider taking a few short, gentle puffs without activating the device first to help draw liquid into the coil before you begin vaping normally.

  6. Adjust how you inhale

Drawing too hard on your device pulls more e-liquid into the coil than it can vaporise, causing it to flood and leak. Try slower, steadier draws at a moderate intensity. If you consistently experience flooding, this is likely the cause.

  7. Store your device upright

Storing your device on its side or upside down causes e-liquid to pool at the base of the pod and find its way through the airflow. Always store your device upright when it is not in use.

Still leaking?

If your pod continues to leak after working through all the steps above, the pod or coil may be faulty and should be replaced. Browse replacement pods and coils or contact our support team and we will be happy to help.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my vape pod leaking from the bottom?

The most common causes are a loose or damaged coil, overfilling, vaping before the coil has primed, drawing too hard, or storing the device on its side. In some cases the pod itself may be cracked or faulty.

Is it safe to vape if my pod is leaking?

You should stop vaping and resolve the leak before continuing. E-liquid in the airflow or on the device contacts can affect performance and produce a burnt or unpleasant taste. Clean the device thoroughly before using it again.

Why does my pod leak when I inhale?

This is usually caused by flooding. Drawing too hard pulls more e-liquid into the coil than it can vaporise. Try shorter, gentler draws and clean any excess liquid from the base of the pod before vaping again.

When should I replace my pod?

If the pod is visibly cracked, the rubber seals are worn or missing, or it continues to leak after following all the steps above, it is time to replace the pod or coil.
